Illuminate training for teachers will be taking place at San Gabriel this summer. Help direct teachers to appropriate computer labs and other locations.

Kidspace International Mud Celebration

Date: Sunday, June 21st

Time: Shift 1: 9 AM - 1:30 PM

Volunteers are needed to help children make a mud mural painting, make seed bombs, create sand pendulum art, paint their own faces with mud, and many more messy activities!

This will be the ONLY summer opportunity to finish Semester 2 hours for the 2014-2015 school year. PRIORITY will be given to those who still need to make up those hours, with a maximum of FOUR hours.

For other volunteers, these hours will be counted for Semester 1 of the 2015-2016 school year!

Summer POPS Concerts

It's time for the summer POPS concert series once again! Help greet guests, carry picnic baskets, distribute programs, collect tickets, manage lines, and do general cleanups. Food WILL be provided, and there will also be breaks to watch the performances throughout the evening!

Shift 1 will feature the theme "Big Band Swing"; Shift 2, "The Sinatra Project"; and Shift 3, "A Night at the Oscars."

Information regarding attire and parking will be updated when possible.

PLEASE sign up HERE and indicate that you are a student volunteering for NHS. Then, make sure you choose the correct day you would like to volunteer.

Sign-ups will continue until the coordinator notifies us that there are enough volunteers for each respective concert. Make sure you sign up as soon as possible to participate in these events!

Multicultural Literacy Day

El Pueblo Park Association is hosting its first ever "Multicultural Literacy Day." This event will center on the vast diversity of cultures in El Pueblo/LA. Onsite will be various organizations conducting arts and crafts that represent their specific culture. The Chinese American Museum will be hosting its own arts and crafts workshop, and this is where the volunteers will come in and help.

Kidspace Grand Butterfly Release

Kidspace Children's Museum will be celebrating one of their biggest events of the year--the annual Grand Butterfly Release! Volunteers are needed to assist children with things like butterfly nectar tasting, butterfly wing- and antennae- making, butterfly mask-making, and more! A few volunteers will even be needed to help release 700 butterflies into their gardens.

Brewery Artwalk

Date: Saturday, April 25th

The Brewery Artwalk is a twice annual open studio weekend at the world's largest art complex. At this service, volunteers will be standing at the entrances handing out maps to the public and walking around helping people find various lofts, bathrooms, food trucks, and more.

Volunteers MUST wear a red shirt and jeans on the day of the Artwalk. They will also be given a lanyard and a nametag as well.

We will meet in the I-5 gallery in the Atrium (the information center). The volunteer coordinator is Tada, and he will be the staff member contact for this event. His number is (818) 517- 8468. Tada will also be handing out assignments. Either he or the NHS officer(s) will check you in.
