Help children and their families have the time of their life! Authentic snow will be delivered to the museum, and the families will play, experiment, and do numerous of winter-themed arts and crafts! Fun right? You will get a chance to have some fun by supervising the snow areas, help children explore by building snow men, assist winter-themed arts, crafts, and science experiments, and provide general supervision to all children and their families. SoCal weather never snows, so it is your chance to finally enter Narnia. You will have so much fun! These hours will go towards 2nd semester.

It's the most beautiful time of the year, floats fill the streets spreading so much cheer, I could be playing LoL, but I choose to go float decorating! Majority of you might be familiar with this since Garvey NJHS had volunteered here! I heard nothing but great feedback, so come by and decorate what you'll be seeing on live TV! You will be able to face super high ladders (optional), get messy, meet new students from other schools, learn new crafty experiences that you probably never learned, and have fun with your friends! Food will not be provided, but there is going to be a food truck right at the warehouse, or you can bring some cash and walk a couple blocks down to get some food! Get into this holiday fun, because it's one the most interesting service I've ever been to! Hours will go towards 2nd semester, so get started! This is a worthwhile experience. 

Attire: You'll be working with paint, glue, and other materials in the cold weather so wear grubby warm clothing. (Shoes! No sandals) Please bring scissors! And you can also bring a pair of gloves. 

Other info: Parking is available in front of the street of the warehouse.

Hello folks! NHS presents you with a fantastic food bank service. If you are bored and ready to get active, this is the service for you. The food bank is a great way to give back to your local Los Angeles community, especially around the holiday season when no one should be hungry.  The food you will package and organize will help low income seniors, women with infants, and children. "By giving just a little of our time, we can make a big difference in our community."

Attire: All that is required is that you bring close-toed shoes. Make sure to bring comfortable close because you will be moving.

NHS Rules 2013-14

Established Rules

Requirements:
-A minimum weighted GPA of 3.5 (Weight Grade Point Average which includes the extra point from Honors and AP courses) 

-This semester, all general members must have at least 25 hours completed (Only 12.5 outside hours may be obtained. If you choose to hold 12.5 outside hours, you must fill out a verification log + sheet)
-This semester, all new members must have at least 10 hours completed (Only 5 outside hours may be obtained. If you choose to hold 5 outside hours, you must fill out a verification log + sheet) 

-For this semester, all members must attend to at least 3 meetings starting from Friday, Oct 18th, until semester 1 ends. During that period of time, NHS held and will be holding 4 meetings in total. However, if you have a valid excuse to be omitted from the meeting, please notify a cabinet member, especially Secretary Steven Ho
-For the upcoming semesters, there will be a meeting requirement. Same goes for the previous dash, you must have a valid excuse to be omitted from the meeting. 

-At the end of every semester, every general member must fill out another application, stapled with a copy of the semester's report card (The application will be posted prior before the due date) 

Services:

*If you are a volunteer who can officially drive, you will earn 1 bonus hour for driving a minimum of 3 NHS volunteers to an event

-Every member can sign up to any event, and must sign up before the deadline date (bolded in red on the event post) and can drop out before the deadline date. If you are signed up to the event and fail to show up, you will be deducted 1 hour

-Virtues and integrity! Arrive to the service on time and stay until the the service ends (But if you have an emergency, you must notify the officer/leader of that service before leaving) Also, everyone must sign in and sign out. Lastly, no double-dipping. If you are signed up with NHS and another club, you will face the consequences, possibly even worse than probation. 

How to get on Probation:

1. Failing to meet all the requirements (That means all hours, meeting, and GPA requirement) 
2. Earning a D or an F on your semester's report card 
3. Earning a U as a citizenship grade on your semester's report card 
4. Coming to a service late/ditching the service early without notifying an officer (Unless there is a valid excuse) Unfortunately, if you are caught lying, you will be dismissed from NHS

If you on probation at least once, you will not earn the graduation stole and cannot run for cabinet. 

Advantages:

*You will earn a graduation stole during the end of your senior year if you are a 6 consecutive semester member and if you never went on probation (You will look bombdiggity, so manage your time wisely and meet those hour requirements!)

*The more services you sign up for, the higher chances of encountering great possibilities and exhibiting the 4 pillars

The Day of the Dead, a beautiful Mexican holiday where families and friends join together and remember their beloved ones who passed away, is celebrated at San Gabriel High School almost every year. Day of the Dead, also known as the Dia De Los Muertos, starts at 11:00 AM- 5:00 PM, but we will be setting up and assisting everyone throughout the entire day!

Shift 1 is limited to 20 people, and they will be in charge of setting up tables all around the campus and assisting workers with their station. 

Shift 2 is a fun optional choice! Only 2 members can aid the amazing vivacious coordinator, Ms. Beda, from 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM. Hurry up before someone takes the spot!

Shift 3 is another fun choice! You will be working during the actual event, helping kids and adults with crafts, directions, and many more. You will stay for an extra hour to help clean up at the end of the event! 

Attire: Comfortable shoes/sandals and light clothing

Food: The service will not be feeding you, but there will be various food stands! So don't forget to bring some cash, or even a delicious homemade lunch! C:

It's another NHS tradition to volunteer for the Rock 'n' Roll LA Marathon! This marathon is to benefit the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). We will be volunteering at the finish line, so you will be watching runners jog to the finish line in their sweat and costumes! Previous members who volunteered for this service found it entertaining and totally fun, so hurry up and sign up! ^__^

It is the last momentous POPS Concert of the year. The wonderful Michael Feinstein is back to astound the crowd and possibly even you. So come by and help greet friendly guests, carry picnic baskets, distribute programs, collect tickets, manage lines, do general cleanup, and catch up with other members. You won't regret signing up! 

Food: A meal will be provided. 

Attire: White collared shirt, appropriate black pants/skirt, and comfortable shoes. (It will be blazing hot, so try not to wear any apparel that is thick and furry) And please carry a flashlight to the service!

The food bank is a great way to give back to your local Los Angeles community. The food you will package and organize will help low income seniors, women with infants, and children. "By giving just a little of our time, we can make a big difference in our community."
